a big little update

It’s been a minute since I’ve added content here, so I’d like to pause for a moment and say: Hi. How are you? I hope you’ve been having a great year.

Like all years, it has had its high points and low points for me. I got COVID in March, and slow recovery from that kept me from taking advantage of a good chunk of the year’s weather and continuing my local excursions. Summers in Kentucky are so hot and humid, it’s best to spend them swimming in a lake if possible; you’re going to be soaking wet either way.

I have a confession to make, though. I did travel, I just didn’t tell you about it. Before any disappointment sets in, I didn’t share it with Instagram either. I wasn’t intentionally taking a break from social media, but it felt really good to travel without the desire for content driving my decisions. We flew to the Pacific Northwest for a whirlwind week of visiting National Parks and old acquaintances from Seattle to San Francisco. I do have photos and videos from the trip, but my little break from producing content was so lovely that I don’t feel particularly compelled to turn it into anything. I’ll post a couple of photos here to spice up my little update.

Speaking of update: I am in the air as I write this! I’ve just boarded a 9 hour flight to Milan to kick off a TWO WEEK tour of Italy. I want to capture as much of the experience as possible, and since I typically journal while traveling, I’m planning on posting daily blogs. The key word here is PLANNING. I have never done such a thing, so I might give up immediately; I might post every other day; I might post daily but offset from the actual day of my experience; but I might, just might, actually do it. We’ll find out more or less together.
